| British Engineer Hockey Tour of Singapore
24 November 09, SINGAPORE: The British Engineers are currently in Singapore on a hockey tour of the island republic. The earliest record of Hockey being played in Singapore was in 1902 when the Royal Engineers introduced the game on the field of the Singapore Recreation Club (SRC). And it is only right that the British Engineers start their tour campaign in Singapore against SRC, albeit not at the famed lawns of the Padang but at the all new and somewhat equally impressive Seng Kang Stadium this evening from 7pm onwards.
The Engineers will start the evening with a Women's game followed by a men's challenge and finish the evening with a Veterans' game. After enjoying the sights and cuisine of exciting Singapore on the 25 November, the Engineers return to action the next day against younger opposition.
The women will play against Singapore's potential Youth Olympic Games girls squad and the men will take on the Singapore National team. Taking in another rest day, the Engineers play against the Hollandse Club men and women on 28 November and finish their tour on 30 November against Tornados, which also features Veteran fixture alongside the women's and men's games.
The Singapore Hockey fraternity would like to cordially welcome the British Engineers to our shores and wish them a truly enjoyable stay and wonderful hockey tour.
