| SHF U21 2010 Finals Preview: SRC v Jansenites
9 March 2010, SINGAPORE |The Singapore Hockey Federation (SHF) Under-21 Girls championships will culminate this Saturday at Sengkang stadium. The finals between the best two teams in the tournament, Singapore Recreation Club (SRC) and Jansenites will start at 5pm.
SRC will be looking to retain their title and will rely on the quality of their team that has scored 29 goals in five games (average of 6 goals/game) to see them edge past a talented and equally determined Jansenites side.
Jansenites, based in Northern Singapore will be hoping their established players will step up their game to compete with the Padang club this weekend. Scoring only 16 goals in 5 games (average 3 goals/game), Jansenites appreciates that SRC will be the favourites for the title but in terms of endeavour they will be second to none.
All eyes will be on top scoring Nursabrina Bhanu who has scored almost half of SRC's goals this season. Jansenites will have to be at their best to keep the nippy Singapore national player at bay. However, they have in Toh Li Min and Chua Xinni two players capable of finding the goal and SRC will be served well to exercise extra caution around the duo.
Fans can expect a tense affair with very little in the way of a barrage of goals. Nevertheless, spectators will be in for a tactical battle between the two sides on show with probably the first team scoring going on to win the game.
Meanwhile, in the boys' finals, the same two clubs will feature and this time, a full strength Jansenites side should be too strong for SRC. Jansenites which boast a number of Singapore Junior World Cup 09 squad have been playing a integrated unit. However, they are thin on numbers and might be stretched if the game goes beyond regulation time.
SRC have in their midst the impressive Reynard Goh and Muhammad Azhari. The duo has between them scored 12 goals this season. Compared to Jansenites firepower which largely comes from Muhammad Sabri's penalty corner threat, SRC look a little lightweight.
Jansenites which ousted the Singapore Youth Olympic Games squad in the semi-finals also have the talented Enrico Eliph in attack and the resolute Tan Yi Ru at the back.
The boys' finals which starts at 7pm and promises to be exciting and full of goals. Expect a high scoring affair but with very little between the two sides.-story by SHF
