In Memoriam: Honoring Mr. Anwarul Haque

In Memoriam: Honoring Mr. Anwarul Haque

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our esteemed former President, Mr. Anwarul Haque . An integral figure in Singapore’s hockey community, Mr Haque was a testament to dedication and passion for the sport.

As a national hockey goalkeeper, he proudly represented Singapore and played for the combined Malaysia team at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. His journey began in 1956 when he joined the Melbourne hockey squad as a junior, and by 1957, he was wearing the Singapore colors on international stages. Mr Haque was also a key member of the 1962 Asian Games squad and later showcased his talent again in the 1970 Asian Games and the 1971 SEAP Games, where Singapore captured a silver medal.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Mr Haque made remarkable contributions as a lawyer and served as the President of the Singapore Hockey Federation from 1985-1992, guiding the organization with wisdom and strength.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Mr Haque’s family and friends during this difficult time. His legacy will forever inspire future generations of hockey players in Singapore.

Rest in peace, Mr. Anwarul Haque. Your impact on the sport and our community will never be forgotten.
